Jemma Booth Presents Research at ACS Midwest Regional Meeting

Jemma Booth, an Eastern Illinois University biochemistry major, recently presented her research on human carboxylase-mediated drug metabolism at the American Chemical Society's 2025 Midwest Regional Meeting in Columbia, Mo. The annual ACS Midwest Regional Meeting brings together chemistry professionals, educators and students from across the Midwest to share research findings, explore emerging topics in the chemical sciences and foster collaboration among academic, industry and government researchers. Booth's research is a collaboration between Eastern Illinois University Professor Michael W. Beck and Butler University Professor R. Jeremy Johnson. Her work is supported by a National Institutes of Health R15 AREA grant awarded to Beck. The NIH AREA program supports research at undergraduate-focused institutions, providing students with hands-on research experience while strengthening institutional research environments.
